Been there, missed that.

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

It looks like we made it through Denver at the right time. We were there last Thursday evening and last Sunday afternoon. They’re slowly opening the airport again, but the majority of delayed and canceled flights here at SMF are to Denver.

I’ll probably post something about the trip later.

More on the Mac/TiVo thing

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

I gave this a shot this morning and it was pretty cool. There are already PowerPC binaries on the tivodecode site, so I didn’t have to do any of that leg work. I converted an episode of Good Eats that I happened to have downloaded to my Mac a while ago and then dropped it into VisualHub, selected PSP and let it work. This is supposed to be where I tell you that I was able to watch Alton Brown making cocktails in glorious QVGA on the shiny black Japanese slab of tech love, but alas, my Memory Stick hadn’t enough capacity. I did, however, manage to watch it in QuickTime and it gave me great geeky joy.
I’ll probably mess with some of the automation stuff tomorrow.

TiVo video now usable on a Mac?

Monday, December 4th, 2006

This caught my eye today. It’s something I’ve been wanting for a while, being a Mac using TiVo owner. I even pondered letting a rogue XP box on to a side street off my home network for the purpose of extracting the video. Now it looks like I won’t have to do this. I’ll grab the tivodecode source later and play with it before work tomorrow.

A day off today. Torn between keeping the beard until July and shaving it off.
