I stopped off at the Peet’s inside my local Raley’s yesterday and noticed a story on the front page of the Sacramento Bee about the Sacramento City Council voting on Thursday on whether to authorize a group to blanket the entire city with WiFi. One of the immediate possibilities I thought of was being stuck in traffic on one of the city’s freeways and being able to pull up one of the traffic websites out there on your laptop, PSP or iPhone (not that you necessarily need WiFi for the last one, but the possibility exists). Hopefully this gets passed and we can look forward to free access to the intertubes from thin air within the boundaries of our state’s capital.

Apparently, I managed to kill the analog portion of my DVI connector, so changing the settings had absolutely no effect. I am borrowing a DVI capable LCD for now, but will be purchasing one for myself shortly – one of those 19″ widescreen models looks like it might fit the bill quite well.

In other news, I downloaded the new Safari 3.0 Beta, which I’m using to write this post. The text field resizing is kinda cool. I haven’t really gotten much of a chance to play with it beyond that, so I’ll defer judgment until later on. I’ll download the Windows version tomorrow at work and see how well that works.

My other browser (actually, my default browser), Camino, got an update recently too. I can’t say that I’ve noticed a huge difference, but I never really had any complaints, so that’s OK.

Now it’s time to finally resurrect a Windows machine for some friends, so I’ll get on with that instead of rambling.
