I’ve been updating my daily stats, menus and photos for a week on my tumblelog. I’ve been trying to keep the order the same – photo first, stats second. My main reason for doing it in this order is that I’m including the two most recent posts on this site in a sidebar widget. The main drawback to that is that I have to wait until I get dressed in order to publish my first update. If I get distracted, like I did yesterday, the photo update may not happen until quite late in the day. I was at work and the lighting was awful, so the photo turned out grainy and dark.

One of the motivations behind this is to be able to track what I’m eating and see what’s giving me the best results. I also want to see if there’s anything tripping me up. Hopefully it will inspire me to prepare more meals for myself on work days, since those days seem to cause the most issues. I’m also noticing that I need to stock up on beef and bacon.

I’ve decided I’m going to post daily status updates over on my tumblr site. These will include a daily weigh in, plus what I’ve eaten that day and a photo. I may at some point turn the photos into a time-lapse video, but I haven’t really gotten that far yet. Today was the first update and I’m going to try to keep updating for as long as I can. I’ll also be embedding these updates from tumblr on this site in a sidebar. That pretty much sums it up. Come back every day if you want to see what I’ve eaten and what I look like that day. I’m sure it will be thrilling.

I just updated to WordPress 2.6.1 and managed to mess up several times. Firstly, I had the wp-config for another site saved locally, so that got uploaded, handing control over to a completely different site. I found a backup of this site’s config, but it was from a time before I had destroyed and rebuilt the site, so I appeared to have lost about 5 month’s worth of updates. FInally, I noticed that I had another set of tables with a different prefix in the database, so I made the necessary change and the site was alive once more.

On a more positive note, I updated the way I include my Twitter updates.

A little over a month ago, I mentioned here that having the WordPress app on my iPhone might make me more likely to update this site in a somewhat more regular manner. As you can probably tell, that didn’t exactly happen. For the last while, I’ve been quite busy at work resolving issues, installing systems and planning new installs. By the time I got a couple of free moments, I had so little inspiration that I didn’t want to write anything here.

I’ve been playing with a new WordPress site, The Guild of Saint Patrick, into which I will be integrating both bbPress (once the 1.0 version is ready) and ZenPhoto (almost done, but I have some more CSS to tweak). I’m still undecided as to whether I’ll be installing ZenPhoto here.

I downloaded the WordPress app for iPhone just to try it out. There’s a possibility that it will make me more likely to update as I have my iPhone in my pocket pretty much all the time anyway. So far I’m liking it.

On the iPhone front, I have ordered myself an 8GB iPhone 3G from AT&T (I didn’t want to deal with Arden Fair or the Apple store at this time and the sales guy was very nice), so I’m currently playing the waiting game as my new phone does its best Godot impression. I also picked up a new SIM with a 559 area code and the very basic Nokia 2610 to use as a support cell phone in place of the awful Lucky Goldstar flippy dealie on Virgin Mobile that I had before.

Now it’s time for some dinner before the drive to Fresno for work.
