That change I mentioned

As you can see over to the right, I’ve been spending a fair amount of time in Fresno recently. That’s because on Monday, I will start my new position as Site Manager for AirIT at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. I’ve been with AirIT for a little over two years as a Field Engineer at Sacramento International Airport. I’ll definitely miss the friends I’ve made here – my SMF ‘Ohana, but I look forward to making friends with a whole new set of people.

This all started a couple of months ago when some people from the City of Fresno Airports department came for a visit to Sacramento to see what our systems and support structure were all about. Knowing that all of our stuff comes with the infamous critical detectors installed (stuff goes wrong at the most critical moment), I came in on my day off to show these people around. Had I left our on site engineer to deal with this on his own, he would have been knee deep in issues by the time they got to the airport.

The tour went very well and one of the vistors said to me in a half joking manner “See you in a couple of months”. I didn’t think much more of it, but then some of the higher-ups from our head office started asking questions, gauging my interest in the possibility of taking on this site as my own. Eventually, I put my name forward when the position was made official and got it. It’s going to be a bit of a challenge – we’re starting from scratch at a brand new location, but it’s smaller than what I’m used to.

Let’s see what the future brings.
